About Us

The Islamic intellectual and cultural tradition once illuminated the world—yet today, critical gaps in contemporary Islamic education leave us without the caliber of scholars and thinkers our era demands.

We are filling that void.

Through rigorous scholarship, deep research, and transformative teaching, our foundation cultivates masters of the Islamic sciences–leaders who will inspire, guide, and carry forward the living tradition of Islamic civilization.

THE DARUL IRFAN FOUNDATION FOR ISLAMIC SCIENCES AND CIVILIZATION

Founded in 2020 by Dr Mahmoud Masri in Istanbul, Türkiye, Darul Irfan fulfills the essential communal obligation (fard kifaya) of preserving and advancing Islamic scholarship. As a global institution comprising six academic centers, we are dedicated to:

  • Educational programs that revive the Islamic sciences

  • Research initiatives that deepen religious understanding

  • Archival and cultural projects that preserve our heritage

  • Specialized programs that cultivate mastery of the Islamic sciences

Grounding all our work in the principle of Tawhid, we offer a unified yet holistic approach to Islamic learning—serving individual seekers and institutions alike while maintaining the integrity of our sacred tradition.

By identifying critical gaps in Islamic education, we avoid duplicating efforts—instead, we strengthen existing institutes, empower scholars, and address systemic challenges that hinder our community’s progress.

This is not short-term work. Our mission is cross-generational; our vision, civilizational.

“Darul Irfan is not repeating the efforts that have already been exhausted in the fields we serve. We are establishing programs and projects in every field that are novel in thought or form. Thus, we are filling voids that must be filled for the needs of this vast Ummah.”

Dr Mahmoud Masri
Executive Director, Darul Irfan
